LiDAR1 is an annual VR online gaming event broadcast on Twitch, featuring tournament rounds and a moderator. Unlike traditional games, it transforms participants’ own living rooms into alien worlds using room scanning and virtual reality. Players scan their environments, which are then adapted into the game world with virtual elements, allowing them to interact with these elements using hand gestures. The game is played via smart phones.
The concept was presented at the c-tv Konferenz 2022 to television network representatives, such as Canal+ and ORF, showcasing a new era of cross-media formats.
